Hey, real talk first. Privacy policies are usually written by lawyers for other lawyers. This one is written by a mom, for moms. I’m going to tell you exactly what I collect, why I collect it, and what I do with it in plain English. No surprises.

Who we are Kin is an AI assistant app built by Kinyoudoitall LLC, a brand created by K Botkin. Our website is kinyoudoitall.com and you can reach us at [email protected].

What Kin collects and why

Your conversations with Kin When you chat with Kin, your messages are processed securely through our own self-hosted AI model and backend infrastructure to generate a response. We do not store your conversations after your session ends.

Your account information If you create a Kin account, we collect your email address and password (encrypted โ€” we never see your actual password) to manage your account and daily message limits. You can delete your account at any time directly inside the Kin app under Settings.

Your grocery and shopping lists If you save items to My Kin, your grocery list and any additional shopping lists are stored securely in our database so they’re there every time you open the app. You can delete items or clear lists at any time.

Your calendar imports If you use Kin’s Schedule Import feature to snap a photo of a sports schedule or school newsletter, the image is processed to extract event information. We log the number of events imported and the date so you can see your import history. We do not store the original photos.

Google Calendar connection If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, Kin uses Google’s secure OAuth login to access your calendar events. We store your Google Calendar access token securely and encrypted in our database so Kin can read your upcoming events and add new ones on your behalf. We only access your calendar events โ€” nothing else in your Google account. Your calendar data is never shared with third parties, never sold, and never used for advertising. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from the My Kin tab under Connected Services, which immediately removes your tokens from our system.

Kin’s Morning Notes If you have morning briefings enabled, Kin generates a personalized daily summary using your schedule data and saves it securely to your account so it’s ready when you open the app. This summary is only visible to you, is never shared, and clears automatically each day. You can dismiss it at any time.

Push notifications If you turn on push notifications in Settings, your device registers with OneSignal (our push notification delivery service) to receive them. We store your notification preferences in our database. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings. We never send marketing push notifications โ€” only the morning summary and weekly planning reminder you opted into.

Kroger integration If you use Kin’s Kroger grocery features, you’ll connect directly to your Kroger account through Kroger’s own secure login. We do not store your Kroger credentials or payment information. Your zip code is saved locally on your device to find nearby stores. All purchases are completed through Kroger directly, not through Kin.

Images shown in Kin When Kin shows you photo inspiration, those images are pulled from Pexels (pexels.com) via their API. We don’t store those images. They’re displayed in the moment from their platform.

Your email address If you sign up for our free AI 101 guide or email list, we collect your email address through Kit (formerly ConvertKit). We use it to send you the freebie you asked for and occasional emails about AI tips, new features, and things we think you’ll actually find useful. You can unsubscribe any time โ€” every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, no hard feelings.

Basic usage data We may collect basic, anonymous usage data like how many messages are sent to understand how Kin is being used and make it better. This is never tied to your personal identity.

What we don’t do

We do not sell your data. Ever. Full stop. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We do not read your conversations to target you with ads. We do not collect information about your kids.

How we protect your data

All data transmitted between the Kin app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Sensitive credentials like Google Calendar access tokens are stored encrypted in our database. We use access controls so only your account can access your data. We never store passwords in plain text. If we ever become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you promptly.
